This policy explains how QR Barcode Scanner & Maker accesses, processes, stores and handles information.

About QR Barcode Scanner & Maker

QR Barcode Scanner & Maker is provided by Media Ventum. In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to Media Ventum.

The app lets you create, customize, scan, save, copy and share QR codes and barcodes. You can use it on your device without creating an account. Creating an account and signing in is optional.

Current features include:

  • QR generation for website URLs, text, email, phone, SMS, Wi-Fi, WhatsApp, vCard, calendar events, business links, Google Forms, social links (Instagram, X/Twitter, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn), and location content you enter as a map link or as latitude/longitude coordinates.
  • Barcode generation for Code 128, Code 39, Code 93, Codabar, EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, UPC-E and ITF-14.
  • Camera and gallery scanning of QR codes and the same barcode formats.
  • Local scan history, QR customization (patterns, eye styles, colours, gradients, optional logos and optional cropping), clipboard copy, gallery save, native share, and local PDF export of some scan results.
  • Optional email/password accounts through Supabase, optional cloud synchronization of saved QR and barcode records, and in-app support tickets for signed-in users.

The in-app Learn tab currently shows placeholder resource titles only. It does not collect learning-profile data or stream third-party video in the current app.

Local use without an account

If you do not create an account or sign in, QR Barcode Scanner & Maker is designed to operate on your device using local application storage (Hive boxes for saved codes and scan history, plus related local state such as account-reminder flags).

In that case we do not intentionally upload your saved QR codes, barcodes, scan history, selected gallery images, custom logos or clipboard copies to Media Ventum or to Supabase.

You remain responsible for deciding what information you place inside a QR code or barcode. Avoid including passwords, confidential information, financial information or other highly sensitive data unless that is appropriate for your intended use.

Optional accounts

You may optionally create an account and sign in. Accounts use Supabase authentication.

When you create an account, the app collects the full name, email address and password you submit. The password is handled by Supabase Auth and is not stored in the app’s own profiles table. A confirmation password entered in the app is used only to check that the two password fields match and is not stored.

Supabase Auth may send email messages containing a one-time code so you can verify your email address or recover your password.

A user profile is stored for signed-in users. That profile includes your full name, together with identifiers and timestamps needed to link the profile to your Supabase authentication account. Your email address is held by Supabase authentication, not in the public profile table.

You may update your full name and password while signed in. Signing out ends the signed-in session and does not delete local QR codes, barcodes or scan history stored on the device. Signing out also does not delete your cloud account or synced records.

Information you enter into QR codes and barcodes

Generation content is processed on your device to create the code. If you are signed in, the encoded content of a saved QR code or barcode may later be uploaded for cloud synchronization. If you are not signed in, the app does not intentionally transmit that generation content to Media Ventum or to Supabase.

Sensitive contents you choose to encode — for example Wi-Fi passwords, vCard contact details, phone numbers, email addresses, event details or location text — are stored in the encoded payload. If you sync while signed in, that encoded payload is stored with your account.

Location QR codes use information you type (a Google Maps link or coordinates). The current app does not access GPS, device location permission, or background location.

Cloud synchronization

When you are signed in, saved QR codes and barcodes can synchronize to Supabase so they can be stored with your account and reconciled with the device.

A synchronized record may include:

  • a unique identifier and a user-friendly public identifier
  • the record type (QR code or barcode)
  • the encoded content
  • design settings such as pattern, colours, eye styles and optional logo placement
  • barcode format and purpose where applicable
  • created and updated times, and the account that owns the record

Design settings may include a local file-path reference if you added a logo. QR Barcode Scanner & Maker does not currently upload the logo image file itself as image data.

Synchronization can take place while you are using the app and, where the operating system allows it, through background tasks on the device (Android/iOS Workmanager / background fetch). QR codes and barcodes created or edited while you are offline, or while a request fails, may remain on the device and upload later when a network connection is available and you are still signed in.

If you delete a synchronized QR code or barcode, the app uses a deleted-at / tombstone approach. The cloud record is marked deleted so the deletion can stay consistent across later synchronization, rather than being treated as if the record had never existed.

Scan history is not included in cloud synchronization.

Camera access

The app requests camera permission so you can scan QR codes and barcodes. Camera frames are used to detect and decode codes. We do not intentionally upload camera images or video to Media Ventumor to Supabase. You may disable camera permission in device settings; camera-based scanning will not work while it is disabled. Camera hardware is optional: devices without a camera can still install the app and use gallery scanning.

QR and barcode scanning and Google ML Kit

QR Barcode Scanner & Maker uses Google ML Kit Barcode Scanning through Google Play Services, via the mobile_scanner plugin. The current Android version uses the unbundled barcode-scanning model. On supported devices, Google Play Services may download the required barcode model when scanning is first used.

Google Play Services and ML Kit may process limited technical, diagnostic, device or application information in accordance with Google’s applicable privacy policies and service terms.

We do not intentionally send decoded QR or barcode contents to Media Ventum or to Supabase as part of the scanning process.

Gallery, photos and cropping

You may select images from your device to scan a code from a picture or to choose a logo for QR customization. Where supported, you may crop an image before using it as a QR logo. Cropping is optional.

Selected images are used only for the feature you request. We do not intentionally upload selected gallery image files to Media Ventum or to Supabase. If you later save and synchronize a customized QR code while signed in, only the design settings described above are included, not the image file.

On Android 9 and below, saving an image to shared storage may use the WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE permission (limited to API 28). Android 10+ uses MediaStore and does not need that permission. On iOS, photo-library read and add-only save permissions are used for the same features.

Scan history

Scan history may include the decoded value, a display format such as QR Code or a barcode type, the scan source (Camera or Gallery), and the date and time of the scan. This is stored locally on your device. The current app does not synchronize scan history to Supabase or upload it to a Media Ventum server.

You can delete individual scan-history entries or clear history in the app. Uninstalling the app or clearing its application data will normally remove locally stored scan history, subject to your operating system’s backup and restore behaviour.

Clipboard, saving, sharing and local PDF export

Copy, save-to-gallery, native share and local PDF export happen only when you request them. After you copy content, clipboard access by other apps is controlled by the operating system. When you share or save a file, the receiving app, gallery or service handles that file under its own terms. We do not receive a copy simply because you save an image to your device.

Support tickets

Signed-in users can submit an in-app support ticket. The ticket stores a category, subject and message, linked to the authenticated Supabase user ID. Name and email are taken from the signed-in session/profile by the server; they are not typed into the ticket form. Anonymous users cannot create support tickets. Submitting a ticket is optional.

Permissions and why they are used

  • Camera — live scanning of QR codes and barcodes. Frames are not uploaded.
  • Internet — optional Supabase authentication and cloud sync, and sending support tickets. The app may also load the Google Sans typeface through the google_fonts package.
  • Photos / gallery — scan-from-image, QR logos, and saving generated images. Selected images are not uploaded.
  • WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE (maxSdkVersion 28) — saving generated images on Android 9 and below.
  • Background fetch / one-off background work — optional retry of signed-in cloud sync or item deletion when the OS allows it.

The current app does not request contacts, microphone, SMS, phone call logs, or device GPS/location permissions.

Personal data we process

If you use the app without an account, Media Ventum does not intentionally collect an account profile or cloud copies of your saved codes, scan history, gallery images or clipboard contents.

If you create an optional account, we process account and synchronization information through Supabase. That includes your full name, authentication details handled by Supabase, synced QR and barcode records (including encoded content and design settings), and any support tickets you submit.

If you email Media Ventum to delete an account after uninstalling the app, we process the email address and any details you send so we can find and delete the account.

Third-party technology required to operate certain features — currently Supabase, Google Play Services / ML Kit, and Google Fonts for the in-app typeface — may process limited technical, diagnostic, authentication or service information under their own policies.

Advertising and analytics

The current version of QR Barcode Scanner & Maker does not include advertising. It also does not currently use a separate third-party behavioural analytics service to track individual users.

If advertising, analytics or similar services are introduced in a future version, this Privacy Policy and relevant store disclosures will be updated where required.

Data sharing and sale

Media Ventum does not sell QR Barcode Scanner & Maker users’ personal information.

We do not intentionally share users’ QR or barcode contents, local scan history, uploaded logos or selected gallery images with advertisers or data brokers.

Information may be processed by platform or service providers where necessary to operate app functionality. This currently includes Supabase for optional authentication, cloud synchronization and support tickets; and Google Play Services and ML Kit for scanning.

Data retention, deletion and user controls

Local app information is stored on your device, so you generally control how long it is retained there. You can delete individual saved QR codes and barcodes or scan-history entries in the app. Saved gallery images can be removed through your device gallery. App data may also be removed by clearing application data or uninstalling the app.

Deleting one saved QR code or barcode is not the same as deleting your entire account. Item deletion marks that cloud record as deleted (tombstone) so later sync stays consistent.

Signing out or uninstalling the app does not delete your cloud account, profile, synced records or support tickets.

You can delete your optional Supabase account, profile, synced QR/barcode cloud records, related account data and associated support tickets from the Account screen in the app. That deletion happens after you confirm your password and takes effect immediately. Local codes and scan history stay on the device as local-only copies.

If you have uninstalled the app, email info@mediaventum.com from the registered address, or see the Account Deletion page. We aim to complete email requests within 30 days, unless a longer legal hold is required.

Local device data (scan history, locally saved codes, gallery images, clipboard copies and cached files) is not removed by cloud account deletion. You must delete those on the device if you want them gone.

Temporary files created for image processing or sharing may remain briefly in application cache storage and may later be removed by the app or the operating system.

Security

We use reasonable technical measures appropriate to the app, including keeping a large part of functionality on-device and using Supabase row-level security so signed-in users can access only their own cloud rows. No mobile device, local storage system, network transmission or software platform can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Do not place highly sensitive information in QR codes or barcodes unless that is appropriate, especially if those records may later synchronize while you are signed in.

Third-party links

QR codes and barcodes may contain links to third-party websites, services or applications. We do not control the content, availability, security or privacy practices of those destinations. Review links before opening them, and use caution when scanning codes from unknown or untrusted sources. Wi-Fi and other credential codes are used at your own risk.

Children’s privacy

QR Barcode Scanner & Maker is a general-purpose QR and barcode utility. It is not directed at children and is not designed to collect personal information from children. Optional accounts are available. We do not knowingly collect children’s personal information. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us using the details below so we can delete it.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

The app may change over time, including through the addition or removal of features, SDKs, services or data-processing activities. We may update this policy to reflect those changes or changes in legal or platform requirements. An updated policy will display a revised Last Updated date. Please review this page periodically. The in-app Privacy Policy is bundled with the app and is written to match this public page.
